Logo Design
In June of 2019 we were tasked with creating a logo to be used on Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss' adaptation of Dracula, that was to be broadcast as the BBC Ones flagship New Years Drama and then additionally broadcast on Netflix. The story of Dracula is one with an amazingly rich visual history from which to borrow from, especially in its literary form.
My route of exploration for the logos were ham horror book covers throughout time and intricate 'gothic' typography - the show was to be particularly dark and contain a surprise twist, and so I endeavoured to design something that would keep up with the contemporary notion of this adaptation, keeping in mind the rich tradition of horror and literature that Dracula holds. My final logo design was based on a range typefaces cut by John F. Cumming in the late 1800s, the ornamental 'teeth' terminals a nice nod to the titular character.
Key art retouching and Out Of Home design was carried out by Geraint Williams. With the creative team on the campaign consisting of Reuben Dangoor, Vikki Stephenson, Mathew Rees & James Fairfield.
